“YOU CAN MAKE SUCH A POSITIVE IMPACT FOR SUCH A RELATIVELY MODEST INPUT”
Since our origins in 1999, our focus has been to support children and their families, primarily through providing educational scholarships, to enable the children to attend and finish their schooling. Then if possible to consider the opportunity of continuing into further education.
It is well known that the opportunities of educational attainment are the best way for an individual, family and community to break the cycle of poverty and deprivation of which they have been a part.
In the Mukdahan North East province of Thailand, there are a very high number of smaller, ill-equipped schools servicing several small villages with high levels of poverty, migrant (and potentially trafficked) families without full legal Thai status. Many village communities are struggling with the effects of missing parents which has given rise to a generation of children reliant on grandparents or the goodwill of community leaders to support and provide for them in their formative years.
Every child is unique, deserves a bright future and a right to live free from danger, abuse or hunger.
Conversely many families rely on the children to care for their elderly and dependant relatives, putting pressure on the young people to stay at home as carers rather than attend school.
